Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Crestwood Memorial Chapel for Mr. W.L. "Dub" Thompson, age 90, of Hokes Bluff, who passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012. Rev. will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
Mr. Thompson served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Republic Steel after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Local Steelworker's Union. He later went to work for Thompson's Construction as a member of the Local Carpenter's Union, where he worked for 20 more years. He loved to work outside, gardening and farming and was an avid Atlanta Braves Baseball Fan. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Laura Allene Sims Thompson; son, Matthew A. (Felicia D. Martin) Thompson; daughter, Tina Ford; grandchildren, Laura Thompson, Meggen (Joe) Morrison, Wyndi Thompson, Coley Ford and Olivia Ford; great grandchildren, Ethan Thompson, Evan Thompson, Eli Thompson and Callie Grace Dooley; sisters, Frankie Lankford and Daphine Pledger.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Amedysis Hospice and to the nursing staff of the 6th Floor at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home.
