Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Crestwood Chapel for Mrs. Wilma "Jean" Tanner Jones, 82, Southside, who died Sunday, June 2, 2013. The Rev. Kenneth Jacobs will officiate. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was a longtime member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. She was a pillar of the community and church and was loved by all who met her. She never met a stranger. Her fantastic cooking will be talked about for years to come, simply because it sure was good. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Hershel Tanner Sr. and Charles Tanner; daughter, Tammy Bryan; and parents, Marvin and Berta Lybrand.
She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Jones; and sons Butch (Emily) Tanner and Jeff (Kathy) Tanner; sister, Shirley Kerr; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to Pine Grove Baptist Church.
