Obituary

Silvey, William Velma (Bud), Jr.
William Velma (Bud) Silvey, Jr., a devout and faithful follower of his Lord Jesus
Christ, passed away Sunday November 14, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving
family. Visitation will be from 9-11 until the time of service at 11 a.m on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.
Van Lockridge, his pastor and friend, will officiate, while music will be provided by the
Croskrey Family. Crestwood Funeral Home will direct the services.
Bud finally graduated from Etowah High School in 1956 after deciding that it
was in his best interest to attend class instead of giving into the temptation to skip
school to enjoy a round of golf. This decision worked out for the best since his
decision to return to school provided the opportunity to meet the love of his life, Terry
Sue Bonds. After eloping to Georgia to get married and keeping it secret for a year, he
spent the remaining years of his life devoted to loving his wife and family.
Bud attended The American College where he obtained his CLU (Certified Life
Underwriter) in 1978. He was a devoted employee of Life Insurance Company of
Alabama for 50 years. At the time of his retirement, he was Regional Sales Director for
North Alabama and Georgia.
Bud served at MeadowBrook Baptist Church in numerous ministries such as
Deacon Chairman, Lay Shepherd, and the Children's Ministry. He was a member of
The Exchange Club, and Life Underwriters Training Council.
Bud was an avid golfer competing in, and often winning, many tournaments
across the southeast. Known for driving the ball straight, he often heard his fellow
golfers say, "Hit 'em straight, Bud", acknowledging his talent on the golf course.
Bud also loved to watch Alabama football and never missed a chance to cheer for the
Tide.
Throughout his life, Bud was always smiling. He was an encourager to his
family, friends, agents, and clients. If success is measured by the love of family and
friends, then Bud was a wealthy man, indeed.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents William V. Silvey, Sr. and Inell Payne
Silvey, and siblings Charles Silvey, James Silvey, Leland Silvey, Martha Silvey Bailey,
and Vera Silvey Stewart.
Survivors are Terry Silvey, his beloved wife of 64 years; Son, Kevin Silvey, his
wife Bonnie, and daughter Hannah; Daughter Crystal Silvey Croskrey, husband Wes,
son Jordan, and daughters Morgan and Lauren. His siblings Janelle Odom, Glema
McCoy (Wayne), Roger Silvey (Judy), and Paula Miller (Haywood), along with many
nieces and nephews also survive him.
Serving with honor as pallbearers are son Kevin, grandson Jordan, son-in-law
Wes, along with friends Charles Cook, Bennet Tucker, and Harry McLendon.
Special thanks goes to Pro-Health Hospice healthcare providers Lizzy, Brittney,
Anna, Melissa, Melissa T., Miranda, Brooklyn, Brittany, Perse, Dr. Courtney Lowe, NP
Debbie Lowe, Chaplains Brad and Ken, and Social Workers Tonya and Janelle.
In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully acknowledges your desire to contribute
memorials in Bud's honor to the church or charity of your choice.
