Funeral will be 12 noon Saturday at Crestwood Chapel for Mr. William "Bill" Sherman age 72 of Glencoe who died Tuesday. Reverend Michael Goldsmith will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Sherman Mechanical Contractors began doing business in 1972 and was well known throughout the Southeast. His company and work were well respected as Bill was one of the best when it came to estimating and laying out large commercial jobs. Bill came by it honestly as he was trained by his father who had the apprentice school for The Plumbers and Steamfitters local 498 named after him. Bill was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was a 1962 graduate of Gadsden High School, he attended North Alabama College and Jacksonville State University. He was a loving father and friend to all and will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents Cecil C and Sarah Tinney Sherman, sisters , Sarah Ann Sherman Moss, and Joan Cecile Sherman Patterson.
He is survived by daughters Kristin C. Sherman and Shannon (Jeff) McCullars and their devoted mother and friend Jeanette Upton Smith, grandchildren Chelsea McCullars Mullen, Parker Sherman Hardin, Will Cantrell, sister Patricia E. Sherman, brother John R. Sherman and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, his loyal friend Jami Mashburn Sherman and loving dog Max.
Pallbearers will be Troy Word, Mike Roper, Andrew Moss, Parker Hardin, W.C. McCullars, and Jeff McCullars.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Etowah County Humane Society.
