Funeral services will be 2 pm Sunday at Crestwood Chapel for Mr. William "Bill" Jordan, age 93, of Rainbow City who died Monday . Reverend Sherri Reynolds will officiate. Entombment will be in Crestwood Cemetery Mausoleum.
Preceded in death by wife Frances, parents Roxie and Homer Jordan, brothers Kyle, Robert and Jim Jordan and sister Annie Sue Jordan.
William C. (Bill) Jordan was born in Centre, Alabama on November 24, 1924, and later moved to Gadsden, graduating from Gadsden High School in 1942. He joined the army in 1942 at l8 years old and served as a medic for the Eighth Armored Division in World War ll. After the war he returned to Gadsdenand worked for Birch Anderson Company. He married Frances Cooper in 1957, and had two daughters, Jan and Parkey. In 1963, Bill and Frances opened Jordan Office Supply on Broad Street and ran a successful office supply and office furniture business for 40 years. Bill was a founding member of the Coosa Investors Club, a financial investment group, the Lions Club and the Downtown Action Council. Even after selling his business, Bill remained active in downtown Gadsden, owning and leasing commercial properties. Bill was an active member of Central United Methodist Church (now Christ CentralChurch).
He is survived by daughters, Jan Harralson (Jim) and Parkey Haggman (Dan), one grandson, Jacob "Jake" William Haggman, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Christ Central Church, 409 W. Grand Ave., Rainbow City Alabama 35906.
