"Gene" Blythe
July 21, 1927 – October 18, 2023
Funeral service will be at 2pm Monday, October 23at Crestwood Chapel for William E. "Gene" Blythe, age 96 of Hokes Bluff, who passed away October 18, 2023. Pastor Scott Young will officiate . Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct services.
Mr. Blythe was a veteran, having served with the US Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a machinist and had been an instructor at Alabama School of Trades prior to owning and operating his own company, WEBCO. He loved pheasant hunting and had served as a deacon of his church. He was an amazing person with a big heart.
He is preceded in death by his wife Bennie Blythe; parents Darrell and Ethel Blythe; brothers Glenn D. Blythe and Clyde R. Blythe; and sisters Hazel Stone and Bernice Black.
He is survived by his daughter Karen Smith-Blythe; chosen son Curtis (Susan) Roe; special friends Larry and Martha Gibbs, Nancy Lipscomb, Carolyn McCullough, Marie Barron, Christie Green, Karen Reed, Barbara Strange, and Meagan Duncan; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are Nancy Lipscomb, Carolyn McCullough, Marie Barron, Christie Green, Karen Reed, and Barbara Strange.
