December 28, 1931 – May 19, 2025
Funeral will be at 2 PM, Thursday, May 22, at Crestwood Funeral Home for
Wilburn Hunkapiller age 93, Gadsden, who died May
19,2025. Roger Graham will officiate. Burial at Crestwood Cemetery.
Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
Wilburn was a native of Marshall County and attended Marshall County High
School. He served in the Navy for two years and graduated from Jacksonville
State University with a degree in Business. He worked for many years at
Goodyear Tire and Rubber and retired from there. He was an active member
of Bellevue Baptist Church in Gadsden for over 60 Years. He enjoyed working
in his yard and sitting on his front porch.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Martha Turner Hunkapiller. His
daughters Rene (Bob) Coley, Mary Hunkapiller Hale, and son, Wade (Jenny) Hunkapiller.
Ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by daughters Cheryl Gaye Hunkapiller and Anita Hunkapiller Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bellevue Baptist Church,
Gadsden.
The Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Wes Coley, Ryan Coley, Drew Hall, McKinnon Hale,
Daniel Sigler, son-in-laws, Bob Coley, and Randy Hall.
Honorary Pallbearers are grandchildren Henry Hunkapiller, Sam Hunkapiller, and Jack
Hunkapiller and Jane Hunkapiller and Cheryl Hall
Special thanks to Dr. Andy Vann and the ER staff at Gadsden Regional
Medical Center and the staff at Clinical Urology Associates.
Visitation will be 1 PM Thursday, May 22, 2025, prior to the Funeral Service
