Wanda- June Buckner Black Dyer went to be forever with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday,

July 10, 2021. She was born on July 6, 1931, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. When she was ten years old ,

her family moved to Mobile, Alabama then later to Loudon, Tennessee as her father worked for the
government during World War II. She grew up the oldest sibling of four and looked after her brothers
while her parents worked. Later, her family moved to Alexander City, Alabama where she met her first
husband, and they were later married.'

After her second child was born, they moved to Gadsden, Alabama where her husband took a job at
Republic Steel. The family lived the remainder of their lives in Gadsden except for eleven years that they
lived in Mobile to help care for her parents who were ill.

Wanda was the mother of three children and loved them so much. She was a devoted and loving wife
for 56 years. "Vic" died of lung disease in 2003. They raised their children, providing a loving and
Christian home. They attended Bellevue Methodist Church in Gadsden, and later moved to Southside,
Alabama attending Southside United Methodist Church. The family was greatly saddened by the death
of her youngest son, David, who died of heart failure in 1986.

She was a devout Christian and served her Lord in many ways throughout her life in local church,
district, conference, and world areas. She was a member of United Methodist Women for many years,
having the privilege of serving in many official capacities at the local, district, and conference levels.
Wanda was elected a delegate to the General and Jurisdictional Conferences of the United Methodist
Church for two quadrennials serving on the General Board of Church and Society, and the General Board
of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. She was assigned to the World Division and
Finance committee and traveled extensively during her tenure. She sang in the choir of her local church
until health conditions prevented her from doing so. Wanda also taught/led Sunday School classes for
different age groups during her years of service in the church.

Wanda worked for many years until she was forced to retire due to health issues. She was an
excellent seamstress and worked out of her home providing her expert talent for several years, until her
marriage to her second husband, Robert Edward Dyer, whom she met in 2006. They were married a year
later. They had 3 Yz wonderful years together. Bob died of pneumonia in 2010.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Mary Buckner; husband V.D. ("Vic") Black,
Jr., and Robert Edward Dyer; youngest son, Ronald David Black; brothers, Bobby Edmond Buckner and
Elmer Raymond r'Bo") Buckner.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Cardwell (Judge William "Bill"); Steven Allen Black (Beverly
"Pat"); Grandchildren: Stacy Engle (David); Scott Cardwell (Christy); Traci Dawn Cottrell (Chris);
Christopher Black; Great Grandchildren: Morgan Engle, Chloe Cardwell, Addie Cardwell, Olivia Cardwell,
Michael Cottrell, Libby Cottrell, Abby Black, Brody Black; brother, Billy Jerry Buckner. Her children,
grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to her and she loved them very much. Also
surviving is her special sister-in-law Mae Satterfield and special brother-in-law Doyce Satterfield; Special
niece Sue Hearn (Mike) and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Wanda also loved all her
wonderful friends and her many church friends throughout her life.

Rev. Matthew Smith will conduct a graveside service for family members on Sunday July 18, 2021.   _
