Obituary

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Crestwood Memorial Chapel for Virginia Colvard Winn, 86, Gadsden, who died Tuesday, March 17, 2009.Rev. Thomas Terry will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Winn was a member of 12th Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband: Sheriff Dewey Colvard and later served as the Sheriff of Etowah County for the remainder of his term. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Charles Turner, parents: Roland and Ada Cobb.
She is survived by her sons: Wayne Colvard and Jimmy Colvard; grandchildren: David (Lynn) Colvard, Wayne (Mindy) Colvard, Patricia Colvard, McKenna Colvard and Wyatt Colvard; great-grandchildren: Chris(Amber) Colvard, Andrew (Cassie) Colvard, Josh Colvard, Scott Hayes, Heather Winningham, Brittany Colvard, Jeremy Colvard, Clay, Colvard, Raven Monroy, Bailey Monroy, Payton Monroy, Gavin Gestle Peyton Gestle; great-great-grandchildren: Railey and Alexis Colvard; sisters: Dorothy (Robert) Hughes and Margaret (Sandy) Sandipher; brothers: James (Wanda) Cobb and Tommy (Gladys) Cobb; a host of nieces and nephews.
Family request no flowers, Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association.
Pallbearers will be the Etowah County Sheriff Department Honor Guard.
Special thanks to Etowah County Sheriff's Department, Sheriff Todd Entrekin, Chief Johnny Grant, nurses and staff at Riverview Regional Medical Center, especially to Regency Pointe staff and Medical Personnel.
Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
