Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Crestwood Funeral Home for Virginia Ree Burgess, 84, Gadsden, who died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017. The Rev. Jeff Rowan will officiate. Burial is at Crestwood Cemetery.
Jenny was a native of Crossville and lived her adult life in Gadsden. She was a kind and loving person who adored her family. She enjoyed spending time at the library and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles Burgess, Gadsden; son, David Burgess (Michelle), Gadsden; grandsons, Jeremy Murphree, Southside, and Cody Burgess, Gadsden; great-granddaughter, Ollie Murphree, Gadsden; brothers, Jimmy West (Brenda) and Larry West (Janice), both of Dawson; sisters, Faye Brewer, Rainbow City, and Linda Freeman, Scottsboro.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond West; mother, Nellie West; brothers, Ronald West, Wayne West and Roy West; sister, Mavis Carroll; granddaughter, Ashley Murphree.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Paden Baptist Church, 900 Padenreich Ave., Gadsden, AL 35903.
Family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. before the service.
