Mrs. Barnes was a life-long resident of Gadsden and an active member of East Gadsden Baptist Church.
She is survived by her love of 58 years, William Mattison Barnes, Sr. "Bill"; she was a full time wife and mother, raising her 3 children, William Mattison Barnes, Jr. (wife, Rita), John David Barnes (Deceased) and his wife, Margaret Grover Barnes Kirby and Mary Jeanenne Barnes (MacKnight). Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and her great grandchildren, April Barnes, Emilly Barnes Harris (husband, Steve), Andrew Hawkins (wife, Rebekah), William Mattison Barnes, III, John Patrick Barnes (wife, Whitney), Kaylee Macknight, Kaden Alldredge and Preston James Hawkins.
She was the daughter of Thelma and John Dial (deceased) from Alabama City. Her family was one of her biggest support systems, her brother, James Dial (deceased, wife Florence), Bobby Dial (wife, Linda) and her sister Cathy Dial Jordan (husband, Randy). Our much loved family includes many nieces, nephew and cousins.
In-Lieu-of-flowers, donations are requested to be sent to the Ronald McDonald House (205) 212-7255, funds to be used for families with hospitalized children to allow moms and dads the opportunity to live closeby to support there sick children.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home.
