Funeral will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, April 23rd, at Crestwood Chapel for V. Marie Sparks, 83, of Southside, who passed away April 21st, 2015. Minister Roy Cordle will officiate. Burial will follow at Southside-Williams Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Sparks was a faithful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a longtime member of Louis Street Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener, accomplished seamstress, and an outstanding cook. Marie was a very honest and unselfish person, and she was admired and respected by all that knew her.
Mrs. Sparks was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Sparks, Sr.; parents, Tillman and Sudie Letherwood; four brothers and one sister; and special cousin, John Letherwood.
She is survived by her children, Belinda Sparks, David Sparks, and Bobby Sparks; daughter-in-law, Sandra Sparks; grandchildren, Logan, Landon, and Andrew Sparks, and Amber Clemons; and sister, Selma Tucker.
Flowers may be sent, or memorials may be made to Salvation Army.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
A very special thanks to Dr. James Robinson, Lawley Hospice for all their consideration and care, especially to Candice, Whitney, and Jinell; and also to Jessica Whitt.
Visitation will be held from 12-2 on Thursday, prior to the service.
