Veronica Evelyn Wilson of Gadsden went to be with the Lord on Jan. 21, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Crestwood Funeral Chapel. Dr. David Carrol and Cameron Nye will officiate.
The family will receive friends from noon- 2 p.m. the day of the service. The graveside service will be held in Crestwood Cemetery.
Veronica was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Elvera St. John. She is survived by her son, Rodney Wilson (fiancee Beverly Teel); brothers, Tyrone St. John (Wanda), Terry St. John (Sandra), and Brett St. John (Tina); sisters, Alana Simpson (Wayne), Pam Washington (Robert); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and a special lifelong friend, Elaine Peek.
Ms. Wilson was an alumni of Emma Sansom High School and marching in the band under the leadership of Rip Reagan. She studied retail marketing at Gadsden State Community College. She worked as a legal secretary in Houston and Gadsden prior to retiring from Community Development with the City of Gadsden. She was an active member of the Alabama City Lions Club. She was involved with many local community and civic events. She was second vice president of the Historical Society and member of the Coffee Club on Tuesdays at Elliott Community Center. She loved Sunday church services, singings, and Christian fellowship. She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist and recently attended Bellevue Methodist Church and Open Door Baptist Church in Foley. Veronica had a love for Elvis and going to Memphis during Elvis Week. She had a special Memphis family, including Carole Polk, Terry Turner, among many other tribute artists. She loved to travel, go to events with her special family and share her precious smile. Her family was her pride and joy. She was a strong woman who loved the dance of life.
Pallbearers will be Robert Washington, Justin Washington, Brandon St. John, Darren St. John, Cameron Ney, Ronnie Mostella, Kenneth Mostella and Jack Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be physicians, Memphis ETA'S and Lion Club members.
