Obituary

Funeral services will be 1 pm Monday, November 27, 2023, at Crestwood Chapel, for Mr. Vernon "Bud" Parris age 79 Of Hokes Bluff, who died Wednesday, November 22,2023. Frank Hunt and Bert Cothran will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery.
Bud will be remembered for his fabulous garden which he took so much pride in, he also loved fishing, NASCAR, his tractor and his truck . He was a retired boilermaker working at both Steel Plant and Goodyear. He was a Christian, loved the Lord and was a faithful longtime member of College Heights Baptist Church and he loved his family dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents Fernwood and Margaret Parris, and brother in law Bill Lowe.
He is survived by wife of 60 years Joyce, children, Steven Mark Parris, Laura(Frank) Hunt, and Jeff Parris. Grandchild, Joshua Edward, sisters Nancy Lowe, Kay(Steve) Small, Rhenetta (Pat) Gallagher, nieces, Chris Snead, Jeff Goodwin, Shane(Judy) Snead, Dianna Lowe, Michael (Dianna) Lowe, Susan Lowe, Bevin (Billy) Smith and his beloved fur babies Britt, Baby, Ginger and Izzy.
Pallbearers Ed Lett, Greg Jackson, Brad Gunter, Steven Dial, Frank Hunt II, Shane Snead and Bill Chapman. Honorary Pallbearers Durwood Johns, Ronald Gray, Ray Battles, Roger Hicks and David Sullivan.
He was a longtime member of the Glencoe Masonic Lodge.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to College Heights Baptist Church.
Special thanks to the staff of Riverview Regional Medical Center, Inhabit Hospice, his College Heights Church family and Greg Jackson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 12 pm, until the time of service.
