Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2009 at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery for Vera Martin Brooks, of Gadsden, who died on Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Minister Ray Brooks will officiate. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
Vera was born in Clay County, Alabama on August 4, 1911. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Allen Brooks; and her son-in-law, O.T. Mullinax.
She is survived by her children, Marva Jo (Euc) Bullock, James Allen (Pat) Brooks and Sara Lou Mullinax; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Celeste Martin, of Millerville, Al; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
In-Lieu-of-flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are J.R. Williamson, Larry Etchison and Betty Campbell.
Special thanks to Christ Central Methodist Church, Pastor Bo Lloyd and the U.M.W. ladies for all your visits, flowers and gifts. Vera was a member there for 64 years and very active in her early years. Also, special thanks to the Glencoe Church of Christ for all of your prayers and cards and to the doctors and all the nurses and staff at Gadsden Healthcare that have cared for her the last three years.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home.
