Obituary

Velma Louena Holliday Latham, 93, passed away September 15, 2014 after a brief illness. Mrs. Latham was born June 19, 1921 in Lamar County to Betty and Johnny Holliday and graduated from Palmetta High School in Pickens County. She married James Curtis (Jake) Latham on June 17, 1939. Jake and Velma had two sons, Jimmy Wayne and Joel David. She worked in Occupational Therapy at Partlow State School in Tuscaloosa from 1960-1984. After retirement they moved to Gadsden Alabama, where they were members of Goodyear Heights Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her parents, Johnny and Betty Holliday and her sister Jeanne' Pendrak. Mrs. Latham is survived by her sons Jim (Anita) Latham, Joel (Sarah), grandchildren Brooke Latham, Chris (Megan) Latham, Tanner (fiance Jennifer Davick), and Aaron (Megan) Latham and great grandchildren Jack Latham, Eli Latham, and Parker Elizabeth Latham. Visitation will be at Crestwood Funeral Home on Wednesday September 17 at 10 am followed by services at 11 am conducted by Brother Tommy Ferguson. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. The Sunday School Class "Rita Duke" at Goodyear Heights will be honorary pallbearers. Interment will be Wednesday September 17 at 4 pm at Memorial Hill Gardens, Tuscaloosa, AL.
