Funeral services will be 1 pm Wednesday, April 11th, at Crestwood chapel for Ms. Velma Lee Hamrick Hammett, 77 of Glencoe, Ala. who died on April 5, 2018. Rev. Kenny and Jacky Beck will officiate, burial at Pine Grove Cemetery.

Ms. Hammett was preceded in death by her parents Revie and Helma Hamrick, spouse Robert
L. Hammett, brother James Hamrick, sister Shirley Wood and brother in laws, Bobby Jack
Tucker, Bill Benton and Cliff Wood.

She is survived by her daughter Nina (Kenny) Beck, grandchildren Rachel (James) Abernathy
and Wes Beck. Great-grandchildren Nathan, Natalie, and Noah Abernathy all of Southside.
Sisters: Wilma Tucker (Rudy) of Melborn, Fl. Revia Sue Melton of Section, Helma (Jim) Lowe
of Gadsden, Sister in law Mary Lou Hamrick of Glencoe. Brothers: Robert (Judy) Hamrick of
Trussville, Tommy (Jan) Hamrick of Southside. Long time friend Bobbie Roberg, of Glencoe and
a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be nephews and great nephews. Honorary Pallbearers will be band students and
band booster club members of the Glencoe High School Marching Band from 1980-1985.

Ms. Hammett was born in Alabama City and was a life-long citizen of Etowah county. She lived
on Green Valley Road since 1948 and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed
being outdoors, fishing, gardening, canning, traveling, and taking care of animals. She devoted
all of her time to her family. She was very proud to be a part of the Glencoe Community. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 11 am until the time of service.
