Funeral Service will be at 1pm Friday, Dec. 4 in Crestwood Memorial Chapel for Velma Gilbreath who went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ On Wednesday December 2, 2009. The Rev. Frank Samuels will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
Mrs. Gilbreath retired from Goodyear with 35 years service. She was a member of College Heights Baptist Church for the last 50 years. She was born in Talladega County and has been a resident of Etowah County for the last 60 years.
Those who preceded her in death are her husband Howell (Foots) Gilbreath, Parents Paul and Ruby Holcombe, sister Esther Holcombe, and brother Ernest Holcombe.
Survivors are her daughter Cathy Gilbreath, Goodsprings; Son Jerry Gilbreath, Birmingham; sister Pauline Arnett; sister Johnie Farrow (Bill); brother Rhuben Holcombe; sister Martha Hare; Sister Hazel Taylor (Thomas); Brother Herbert Holcombe (Erna); Sister Roy Jean Norman; Sister Marion Hodgson (Bill); Brother Joe Holcombe; Numerous Nieces and Nephews; and her two Best Friends Dean Semrick and Kathleen Hicks.
Pallbearers will be Nephews.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Rod Norman.
Flowers will be accepted or Donations may be made in Mrs. Gilbreath's honor to St.Jude"s Hospital.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 until the hour of service.
