Tommy Arthur Thompson, 75, was born on June 24, 1950, to Bert and Wynell Thompson. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on February 20, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 2525 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 PM. His life was rooted in faith and enriched by the friendships he built along the way. Tommy retired from Goodyear after many dedicated years of hard work.
Tommy was well known for his quick wit and unforgettable sense of humor. Being around Tommy meant you were likely to leave with a smile.
Above all, he deeply loved his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he proudly and happily spoiled every chance he got. Tommy cherished his church and spending time in Scripture. In his later years, he loved studying God's prophecy. His life was defined by hard work, loyalty, steadfast faith, and a sincere love for those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Balenger Thompson; his brother, John Thompson; his brother-in-law, Randy (Susan) Scruggs; his children, Shane (Amanda) Otinger, Anthony (Laura) Thompson, Bess Molnar, Brent (Amy) Balenger, Brandon (Emily) Balenger, and Heath (Candice) Balenger; his grandchildren, Chastin Clay, Shayna Sternloff, Tide Thompson, Camille Thompson, Taylor Molnar, Laura Molnar, Dylan Martin, Tanner Payton, Talan Balenger, Lainey Balenger, Liam Balenger, Tate Balenger, Millie Balenger, and Truss Balenger; and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Wynell Thompson; his siblings, Mary Sims, Martha Thompson, and Jimmy Thompson; and his nephews, Terry Sims and Tim Sims.
