Obituary

Tommy Edward Higdon, 48, passed away unexpectedly on May 9th, 2017. He is a 1986 graduate of Etowah High School and was retired from McWane Cast Iron Pipe, in Birmingham, Alabama.

On Valentines Day in 2017, Tommy celebrated by marrying his high school sweetheart, Renea. They were sweethearts in 10th grade and she was his soul mate and best friend. When he went to be with the Lord, they had been married just shy of three months.

Tommy loved life to the fullest. His favorite past times were fishing with his brother, Jerry and singing karaoke with his wife and friends. Sundays were most often spent adventuring with his wife. He was full of life and never met a stranger. He left a smile with everyone he met. He had a special friend, Bo Hunt, whom he loved like a brother. His heart belonged to his grandson, Brantley.

Tommy was preceded in death by his son, Brandon Ryan Higdon; father, James "Sam" Roland Higdon; brother, James Craig Higdon; step-father, Claude Croft.

Survivors include wife, Renea Teele Higdon; mother, Mary Lee Croft; grandson, Brantley Ryan Higdon; brother, Jerry Higdon (Tammy); special nephews that were dear to his heart, Jeremy and Jesse Higdon.

A memorial service will be held at Noccalula Falls pavilion eight, 2 P.M. on Sunday, May 21st with Rev. Philip Elliott officiating. He will be laid to rest along side his son at Altoona/Walnut Grove Cemetery at a later date.

Special thanks to Gadsden Fire Department and the EMS staff for all their efforts.
