Obituary

Thomas L. “Tommy” Tidmore, 79, of Hokes Bluff, Alabama, passed away on October 1, 2026. He was born on March 31, 1947, and leaves behind a legacy of devotion to his family, his country, his faith, and his community.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 5, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Crestwood Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Crestwood Cemetery.

Tommy was of the Baptist faith. His faith was an important part of his life and the foundation upon which he built his family and his life.

Tommy proudly served his country in the United States Army for three years, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. Following his active-duty military service, he continued his commitment to serving his country and community by joining the 279th Signal Battalion of the Alabama National Guard, where he faithfully served for 20 years before retiring.

Tommy also dedicated 32 years of his working life to the United States Postal Service as a City Letter Carrier before retiring. Throughout his years of service, he was dedicated to his work and to the people he served.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Hayden Henry Tidmore and Willene Roxie McClendon; his siblings, Hayden Henry Tidmore, Jerre Dean Tidmore, Michael Lynn Tidmore, Jane Tidmore Edwards, Joyce Tidmore Holt, and Linda Jean Tidmore; and his beloved in-laws, James M. Bonner and Eunice P. Bonner.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Gail Tidmore. Together, they shared a lifetime of love, family, and memories. He is also survived by his daughter, Deena Tidmore; his son, Keith (Rachel) Tidmore; and his beloved grandsons, Mason Langdale, Gabe Langdale, Clark Tidmore, and Reid Tidmore. He is also survived by his sister, Joan Tidmore Haynes, along with several nieces and nephews.

Above all, Tommy was a devoted husband, father, and Paw Paw. His family was an important part of his life, and the memories made throughout the years will be treasured by those who loved him.

Tommy's life was one of service—service to his country, service to his community, and, most importantly, love and devotion to his family. From his years in the Army and Alabama National Guard to his 32 years with the United States Postal Service, he gave much of his life to serving others.

His absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Although he has left this earthly life, the love he gave, the memories he created, and the legacy he leaves behind will continue to live on through his family for generations to come.

He will be deeply loved, forever remembered, and greatly missed.

“His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”

— Matthew 25:21 (KJV)
