Funeral services for Mr. Thomas R. Fancher, 87, who died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2011, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Crestwood Chapel. The Rev. Frank Samuels will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of services. Mr. Fancher was a Goodyear retiree with over 40 years of service. He then worked security for Gadsden Regional Medical Center for several years. He was a faithful member of College Heights Baptist Church for over 51 years, serving as Sunday School teacher, secretary-treasurer and Deacon. Mr. Fancher was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Pearl Fancher; one brother; and a number of sisters. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lanis Cunningham Fancher; sons, Ron (Mary) Fancher of Lakeland, Fla.; Rick Fancher of Gadsden; grandson, Brett Fancher of Lakeland, Fla.; sister, Sarah Savage of Roanoke, Va.; and special friends, Karen Bennett and Jerry Toney. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society . Pallbearers will be Deacons of College Heights Baptist Church. Special thanks to Drs. John Wilborn and Jed Kaplan and the caring staff of Lawley Hospice. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the time of service Tuesday.
