Funeral services for Thelma Janice Thornton, age 79, of Rainbow City, Alabama, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Crestwood Chapel, with Tim Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Crestwood Cemetery.

Ms. Thornton passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025. She was born on April 18, 1946, in Ragland, Alabama, and spent many years faithfully teaching first-grade Sunday School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Lucille McDonald and Thomas Newt McDonald.

Ms. Thornton is survived by her daughter, Nancy Minyard; granddaughters Ryann (Tyler) Armstrong and Erin (Brandon) Rollin; great-grandchildren Brooks Armstrong (age 7), Jaxon Armstrong (age 3), Emory Armstrong (5 months), Addison Rollin (6 years), and Anderson Rollin (age 2); and her brother, Larry "Bo" (Deliah) Quinton, and sister Cornell Brown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday morning.
