Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Crestwood Memorial Chapel for Mrs. Thamar Laverene Bearden, 90, of East Gadsden, who passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. The Rev. Joel Daniels will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
Thamar was born on Dec. 10, 1922, in Lanett, Ala. She moved to Gadsden and worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., where she met her husband, Herschel Bearden.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Herschel Frazier Bearden; parents, Curtis and Katie McNaron; and brother, Wayne McNaron; brothers-in-law, Grey Halsey, Herman Nix, Paul Bearden and Harvey Bearden.
Survivors include her children, Lynn (Joey) Fletcher, Frazier (Debbie) Bearden and Donna (Butch) Bladorn; grandchildren, Robin (Thomas) Harper, David Fletcher and Tyler Bearden; great-grandchild, Cole Harper; siblings, Merle (Sarah) McNaron, of Tennessee, Mary Ruth Nix, Jeanette Halsey and Dale (Bobby) Davis, of South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the East Gadsden Nazarene Church or Alzheimer's Foundation.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Meadowood Retirement Village, Sarah Mitchell, David Bearden and Jeanette Halsey for all of your help and support.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home.
