Sylvia Faye Sauerwine, of Gadsden, went to her eternal home on July 3, 2026.
A funeral service will be held at Crestwood Funeral Home on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. and continue until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Tammy Jackson will officiate.
Sylvia was a strong and faithful Christian, a devoted mother, beloved Nana, and a cherished friend with a true servant's heart. She loved serving her church and was actively involved with the Theater of Gadsden. Sylvia was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Attalla. She taught Sunday School for more than 60 years with perfect attendance. Her unwavering faith, kindness, and dedication to her family, church, and community touched countless lives. She loved her family and friends dearly and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Florence Miller; her daughters, Carrie Peters and Linda Sullivan; and her grandson, Jason Knight.
Sylvia is survived by her children, Jimmy (Carla) Peters, Doris (John) Day, and Melody Peters; her grandchildren, Johnathon (Ashley) Shelton, Shea (Michael) Grady, Hollie (John) Brocksmith, Megan Day, Erin (Stephen) Greenwood, and Sydney Day; her great-grandchildren, Kira, Jason, Gage, and Adilyn Knight, Mackenzie and Haley Shelton, and Parker and Zelma Grady; her great-great-grandchildren, Nova Zuniga and Ryker Knight; and her best friend, Elizabeth War.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Peters, Johnathon Shelton, John Day, John Brocksmith, Stephen Greenwood, and Michael Greenwood.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Reiland and the third-floor staff at Riverview Regional Medical Center for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Sylvia during her final days.
