Shirley Ann Moon
August 13th, 1943 – July 1st, 2024
Shirley Moon, 80, of Southside, passed away peacefully on July 1st, 2024. Born on August 13,1943 in Calhoun County, Alabama.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents J.A. and Beatrice Christopher, brother Louie Christopher, sister Liz Strahan and great grandson Collier Foote.
She is survived by her husband Gene Moon, children Ray (Kathlyn) Moon, David (Wendy) Moon, Karen Moon, and Jason Moon. Grandchildren; Kayla (Rob) Terrell, Brent Moon, Nathaniel Moon, Hannah Moon, CJ Moon, and Magnolia Moon. Great granddaughter; Jorja Foote and many special nieces and nephews.
Shirley wore many hats: daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. But the hat that she wore with the most grace and style, was that of an angel with her gentle and loving heart. She truly was our angel on earth that bestowed kindness upon everyone whose path she crossed. Shirley never met a stranger. She was the kind of person that made you feel warm and loved when in her presence and was always comforting in a time of need. Shirley never uttered an unkind word, constantly showing thoughtfulness and compassion.
She cherished life and loved spending time with those close to her. Shirley enjoyed sharing a cup of coffee or tea, socializing, telling jokes and laughing until she cried. Her infectious smile and boundless heart made every room shine and every life she touched better for it.
Shirley had many passions, including decorating, flower arranging, traveling, and watching nature. She owned a home décor business in Rainbow City for many years, in which she enjoyed serving the local clientele and giving back to the community. She was an expert at hosting events for special occasions, using her innate ability to turn a simple celebration into a grandiose experience for everyone involved.
Her quest for new experiences included spontaneous road trips with her family and friends. Shirley treasured her many trips, seeing new places and making new memories. She had a never-ending spirit for adventure and made every journey more exciting by her mere presence along the way.
Shirley was greatly beloved. She touched so many people without even knowing what an immense impact that she had on others. She inspired everyone around her to be a better person with her love and kindness. Shirley's life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, the lives she touched, and the love she shared. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live eternally in the hearts of those she has left behind.

A service celebrating Shirley's life will be held at Crestwood Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024. Visitation begins at 11:00 am, service will start at 1:00 pm. Pallbearers will include Brent Moon, Nathaniel Moon, CJ Moon, Johnny Christopher, Christopher Strahan, and Rob Terrell.
