Obituary

Sharon Teresa Diggs, known to everyone as Teresa, 69, of Thomaston, Georgia, passed away on August 7, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Born on January 16, 1957, in Gadsden, Alabama, Teresa later made her home in several Georgia communities over the years, including Riverdale, Forest Park, Covington, Barnesville, and ultimately Thomaston. She worked during her life for Williams Brothers and Kroger.

Teresa was outgoing, feisty, and never afraid to stand by what she believed in. Above all else, however, she had a deep love for her family. The love she had for every member of her family was one of the things that defined her, and those closest to her will remember how much her family meant to her.

She enjoyed the simple things that became unmistakably “Teresa” over the years—Diet Dr Pepper, Mayfield ice cream, watching her stories, and cheering for Alabama football. Some of the memories that will continue to make her family smile include eating chocolate ice cream while watching Days of Our Lives with Austin and the story of sneaking into a horse farm to ride horses.

Teresa also had her own memorable way of looking after the people she loved. Family members will undoubtedly remember her reminders to “put your shoes on so you don’t get gangrene,” along with her insistence on turning off breakers and unplugging everything. She loved saving the photographs shared by family members, quietly collecting the moments and faces that mattered most to her.

Teresa was preceded in death by her father, Earl Diggs; her mother, Betty Sue Vessell; and her sisters, Susan Lay and Kimberly Patterson.

She is survived by her significant other, Eddie Price; her children, Robby (Mandy) Silvey, Casey (Christy) Silvey, and Yancey (Brooke) Smith (biological); her grandchildren, Austin Silvey, Dalton Silvey, Tyler Silvey, Brent Smith, Brodey Smith, Corbin Crowe, Eric Shelley, Karen Shelley, and Scott Shelley; and her great-grandchildren, Kingston, Paisley, Brylee, Hallie, Brynlie, Blake, and Everly.

She is also survived by her siblings, Cindy (Buddy) Smith, Bridgett Diggs, and Brandon (Deann) Diggs, as well as many other family members and friends who loved her.

A memorial service celebrating Teresa’s life will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time at Faith Fellowship Church, 475 Hammond Dr., Griffin, Georgia 30223. Food and fellowship will follow immediately after the service at the church.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Central Time at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, 2209 E. Broad St., Gadsden, Alabama 35903.

Teresa will be remembered not simply for the years she lived, but for the family she loved, the memories she held onto, the opinions she stood firmly behind, and the unmistakable personality that made her uniquely Teresa.
