Graveside service will be at 2pm Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Crestwood Cemetery, for Mrs. Sarah A. Stephens, age 88, of Rainbow City, who died Monday November 7, 2022. Bill Drummons will officiate. Crestwood Funeral Home announcing.
Sarah enjoyed working in her yard and planting flowers and vegetables. After her husband's retirement, Sarah and Don enjoyed many years traveling to craft shows and selling their handmade woodcrafts. Sarah loved her grandchildren, Taylor and Anna, and was so very proud of them. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing gospel songs. When she started a sentence with "Well, years ago" you knew to sit back and listen to one of the many adventures of Don, Bain, and her seeing the world.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Stephens is preceded in death by husband, Donald Bain Stephens Sr., brothers Joe. H. (Sarah Jane) Appling, Melvin (Bobbie) Appling Milford "Shorty" Appling, sisters Marcelle (Thomas) Powell, and Betty(U.D.) Sanders.
She is survived by her son Bain (Kelly) Stephens, grandchildren Taylor Stephens, and Anna Stephens; nephews Mike (Lisa) Stephens, Pat (Carrie) Stephens, Joe A. Underwood, Jerry (Charlotte) Underwood, Joe H. (Lou) Appling Jr, Harvey Appling, Michael (Wendy) Appling; nieces Patricia Sanders, Kathy Sanders, Candy Johns, and Paige (Scott) Allison.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity in her name. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Stephens, Pat Stephens, Allen Hawkins, David Daniel, Joe Appling, Joe Underwood, and Jerry Underwood.
