On Monday, the twelfth of February 2018, Sarah Goss Pugh knew in fulfillment what she believed in faith and entered her heavenly home surrounded by her family and the love and prayers of her many friends. Her funeral services will be held on Friday, February 16 ^th at Rainbow Presbyterian Church at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Wade Hooper officiating. There will be visitation prior to the service at 11 a.m. with burial at Crestwood Cemetary. Pallbearers will be elders and deacons of Rainbow Presbyterian Church and John Watson.

Sarah Ann Goss Pugh was born on November 19, 1945 in Gadsden, Alabama. She graduated from Emma Sansom High School. While attending Jacksonville State University, she met the love of her life, Frank. She graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and they began their 51 year marriage in 1967. She followed in the legacy of her mother, Mary Goss, and taught generations of students for 31 years at Eura Brown Elementary School. A beloved educator, she was known for her kindness and her ability to not only teach children to read, but to cultivate a love of learning. Her own education continued with earning a Masters of Arts in Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1972. She went on to teach at Gadsden State Community College as well as private tutoring.

Sarah was an active member of Rainbow Presbyterian Church. She founded and loved to host her Literary Ladies Book Club and served as president of the Wildwood Hills Garden Club and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. Her retirement was filled with many travels with her husband, precious time with her girlfriends, and delighting in her grandsons.

Sarah will be greatly missed by her adoring husband, Francis Eugene Pugh and her sons John Pugh of Chelsea and Daniel (Rachel) Pugh of Gadsden. Grandsons David Pugh, Jacob Pugh and Samuel Pollock of Gadsden. Brother, Dr. Grady Mack Goss (Billie) of Scottsboro. Sister in law, Ann (Mark) Hudson of Anniston. Cousin Diane Henderson of Oxford. Nieces Karen Goss Henderson (Terry) of Gardendale and Amy Martin Adams (David) of Ohatchee. Nephew David Martin of Anniston. Her legacy also includes eight great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Grady and Mary Goss and sister Glenda.

Special thanks go to the care she has received from the staff of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit as well as Dr. Elquis Castillo, Dr. Courtney Lowe, and Dr. George Robinson, III whose professionalism and dedication are truly appreciated.

Sarah Pugh lived 1 Thessalonians 5:11, "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up." Her notes and cards were well known to cheer and comfort her loved ones and she was generous with these kind words and with the love she poured out on all who knew her.
