Funeral Services will be at 2pm Sunday at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home for Mrs. Sarah Alice Holt, age 91, a longtime resident of Gadsden who passed away November 25, 2010. Burial will be in Crestwood Mausoleum. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Holt was born July 19, 1919, to Otis and Oscar McCain of Ashville. Mrs. Holt was a graduate of Ashville High School and Birmingham-Southern College. Employed by the Gadsden City School System for more than twenty- five years, she taught at Elliott Elementary School and Walnut Park Elementary School. She was a member of Alabama City United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Coach Walter Holt.
She is survived by her daughter, Nanaline Holt of Birmingham, and her son, Walter Holt (Jessica McGee) of Greencastle, PA. She also survived by her grand-daughter Elizabeth Stogner of Helena and Emily Austin of Mercersburg, PA, and by four great-grand-children, Sarah Jessica Stogner and Anna, Alexander, and Kenneth Allen Austin.
Memorials may be made to Alabama City United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 1pm until 2pm Sunday at the funeral home.
