Funeral services will be at 12 noon Saturday, at Crestwood Chapel for Mrs. Ruth Louise Reynolds age 88 who passed away Tuesday, June 24.2014. The Reverend David Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Ruth was born in 1925 in Benham, Kentucky to Clarence and Mattie Lou (Baker) Edwards. And moved to Alabama at the age of two. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, James Bill Edwards, Roy Edwards, Franklin Edwards and Barbara Edwards, and beloved daughter Elaine Reynolds Terry as well as husband and companion of 56 years, Leo Reynolds.
She is survived by daughter Jane Reynolds Harlow (twin sister to Elaine Terry), son Craig Reynolds(special daughter in law, Estra.)beloved grandchildren, Trac Terry, Travis Terry(Sonya), and Tracy Terry(Ben), Scott Harlow (Tracy), Ian Harlow(Brandie) and Jackson Reynolds(Katie), step granddaughters Sunny Maybrey and Hayley Burns( Chuck) ,and great grandchildren, Alex and Abbie Harlow, Hayden and Josie Harlow ,Drake and Katherine Terry, Martin and Elena Brodsky, Claire and Madeline Elaine Reynolds, Charley and Bo Burns. Ruth has one surviving sister, Willene Price (Jim) and special friend Helen Wilson.
Ruth was educated in the Gadsden City Schools, a 1943 graduate of Gadsden High School and attended the UA Extention Center as well as GSCC. She was a graduate of one of the early EMT classes held at HNJ Hospital. She was employed for 35 years by Craig Cantrell, MD as a Medical assistant, She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, She was a charter and life member of the Alabama Society for Medical Assistants, a board member of Easter Seals, Etowah County. She was president of "Friends of the Museum" at the Gadsden Museum of Art and an active member of the Dixie Belle Chapter of ABWA. After retirement in 1982, she became a volunteer at Riverview Hospital; later she became a part time employee, working in Nursing Education and continued to serve as a volunteer. As a RRMC Volunteer, she helped to create the first Nursing Scholarship given by the volunteers.

Ruth and husband Leo Reynolds were instrumental in the early development of The Gadsden Museum of Art. Ruth devoted and sacrificed most of her life as being a loving caretaker for her parents and beloved husband Leo who was stricken with crippling Rheumatoid Arthritis and devoted much of her unselfish time to the care of her daughter Elaine during her battle with breast cancer.
Pallbearers will be friends and family.
On behalf of the family we would like to extend a special appreciation to Dr. Osuji and the nurses and staff on the seventh floor of Riverview Regional, and the nurses and staff at Amedisys Hospice and friends and staff at Meadowood Retirement Village(Specialty Care Facility).

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 10 Am until the time of service.
