Ruth Hyde Lancaster of Gadsden, Alabama, went to be with her Savior on Dec. 5, 2010. Funeral service will be Thursday, December 9, at Crestwood Cemetery at -12:00 P.M.; visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service. The Reverend Jeremy Beck will be officiating. Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert C. Lancaster, her mother Katie Hyde, and her sister, Wilma Colvard. Survivors. include her children: her daughter, Susan Lancaster, Gadsden; son, Dr. David Lancaster (Barb) of Martin, TN; grandchildren Peter (Nikki) Lancaster, Birmingham, AL, Joey (Elizabeth) Lancaster, Taiwan, Leah Lancaster, Martin TN, Laura Lancaster, Martin, TN; brother, William F. (Arline) Hyde, Dracut, MA; many nieces and nephews. Ruth was a strong Christian wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was devoted to her family; she always considered raising her children and maintaining a safe and comfortable home her "job." She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Gadsden. She was kind, generous, and gracious to everyone. She will be missed by all who knew her. We can take comfort in the fact that she is rejoicing and fellowshipping with her Lord and Savior and reunited with her husband. Proverbs 31:27-28: "She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children will arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." The family would like to express extreme gratitude to all employees and administrators/owner at Meadowood Retirement Village for their tireless efforts in their care for our mother.
