Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2009 at Crestwood Memorial Chapel for Mrs. Ruth Lancaster, age 93, of Hokes Bluff, who died on Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Rev. Steve Mayes will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
Mrs. Lancaster was a member of D.A.R. and the Eastern Star in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the wife of Lou Lancaster for 35 years. Lou was a native of Hokes Bluff, AL. Her and Lou returned to Hokes Bluff after their retirement in 1983. Mrs. Lancaster retired from the Los Angeles County Marshall's Office.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lou Lancaster; 2 brothers, Jay and Rilse; and a grandson, David Sutton.
She is survived by her 2 sons, Dale A. (Georgina "Troy") Sutton, of Medford, New Jersey and Alan K. (Arden) Sutton, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; 5 grandchildren, Donald A. Sutton, Laura A. Sutton, Christina (Eric) Stevens, Kirsten (Paul) Freeborne and Leigh (Abdellatif) Naji; and 7 great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Genevieve Keeling for her wonderful assistance and loving care for so many years. You are very appreciated and your good deeds will never be forgotton.
The family will receive friends on Monday, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home.
