Funeral Service will be Monday, Dec.17 at Crestwood Chapel for Ruie Andrew "Buddy" Barnes, Sr., age 73, Gadsden, who died Friday December 14, 2007. Revs Jack Kennington and Grady Richardson will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home will direct.
Ruie Andrew "Buddy" Barnes, Sr. was born March 12, 1934 In Attalla, Al. He was in the United States Army, served as a police officer for Attalla City and Gadsden City, and as a Federal Police Officer at Redstone Arsenal. He is preceded in death by his father Ruie Henry Barnes and mother Willie Mae Heaton Barnes, and sister June Quinn.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Rozalind Barnes; Daughter Christy (Ben) Wells; Sons Ruie Andrew "Bubba" (Andi) Barnes, Jr. and John David(Amanda) Barnes; and daughter Sherry Barnes (Dave) Hart; He had 5 Grandsons Ryan, Tyler, and Kyle - sons of Andrew and Joseph and Samuel Barnes - sons of John David; Brother Charles E. (Vicki) Barnes; Several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
The family would like to express special thanks to 7th floor, 3rd floor, and CCU at Riverview Regional Medical Center, Shanna Woodard, and Dr. Todd Cross.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Toys from Santa drive by the Gadsden Police Department.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from Noon until the hour of service Monday.
