Ruby Boyle took that heavenly flight @ 5:30 pm on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. She passed at her home in Rainbow City, Alabama with many loved ones nearby. Bro. Dave Roberts, her pastor at First Baptist Church Rainbow City, will officiate, along with Bro. George Knott, pastor at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church near Boaz, Alabama. Arrangements entrusted to Crestwood Funeral Home. The family welcomes visitors on Saturday, January 29 th from 10:00 until 12 noon prior to the service at 12:00. We understand if you don't feel comfortable attending due to covid. We plan to stream the service live on Karen Boyle Galloway's Facebook page. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery, beside her husband, Bill Boyle, who passed in 2007.
Ruby entered this life at her parents' home in Attalla Alabama on May 17, 1926. She resided in Etowah County her entire life, where she worked a variety of jobs. She was introduced to William "Bill" Madison Boyle by his cousin, and they were married on December 10, 1949. Jo, as Bill called her, was employed in the office at Republic Steel when they married and worked there until they started their family in 1953. Ruby enjoyed working outside the home from time to time at several office type positions. She was not only a member, but an officer, and was nominated "Woman of the Year" of the Etowah County Homemakers Club. As member of the Rainbow City Seniors, she also held officer positions. She also did volunteer work up until she became physical unable to drive. A dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Rainbow City, at the time of her passing, Ruby was the oldest member of the church as well as the longest attending member. Ruby and Bill raised three children in the Rainbow City community. Genealogy was a hobby that she enjoyed as was various crafts.
Ruby leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Karen (Bill) Galloway of Boaz, Carl "Buddy" Boyle of Rainbow City and Alice Jean Boyle of Boaz; grandchildren: Dianne Galloway (Mike Kessler) of Ramer, Dawn (Jason) Chamblee of Boaz and Hannah Boyle of Rainbow City; granddaughter-in-law Amanda Galloway of Arab. Ruby is also survived by her great-grandchildren Natalie Jones, Mitchell (Kaitlyn) Chamblee, Dalton Jones, Keven Chamblee, Reid Jones, Colt Galloway, Will Galloway, Karlee Chamblee, Sawyer Levitt Galloway; great great grandchildren Camreigh Jones, Waylon Shane and AnaRose Jones, sister Anna (Richard) Battles of Paris Tennessee, sister-in-law Billie Basson as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents Steve and Esterlee Hollingsworth Basson, husband Bill Boyle, siblings Steve Basson Jr, Willie Mae Smith, Ernest Basson and Betty Price and grandson William Shane Galloway.
