A Memorial service will be at 2:00 pm Sunday August 30, at Crestwood Chapel for Roy E. Box, 86, Glencoe, who died Friday August 28, 2009. The Reverend Dr. Robert H. Tant will officiate. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will be directing.
Mr. Box was a member of Glencoe Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. He had worked for both Republic Steel and LTV Steel for a combined total of 38 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lou-setta "Boots" Box; father John E. Box; mother Alma Goodworth; sisters Sally Will Box and Nettie Dean; and brother Herbert Box.
Mr. Box is survived by his son Ron Box and his wife Ginger, of Tuscaloosa; Grandsons and their families: Darryl Box (wife Lisa) and their sons Brandon, Caleb, and Ethan all of Katy, Texas and Chris Box and his son Austin of Kingwood, Texas; sister Lucille Sommers of Towsen, Maryland; nephews Ray St.John (wife Ann) and Karl Sommers; nieces Sharon Sommers and Rosemary Roper (husband Wesley), several other nieces, nephews, cousins and his family of friends from George Wallace Senior Citizens Center in Glencoe.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. H.B.Thompson, Dr. Jed Kaplan and their Staff; the 8th floor staff of Gadsden Regional Medical Center, especially Janice Cunningham, RN; and Julie Gaither for their outstanding care.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 pm until the hour of service.
