Funeral service will be at 1pm today, June 19, at Crestwood Chapel for Roland "Buddy" West, age 68 of Crossville (Formerly of Glencoe) died June 17, 2014. Rev. Zach Richards will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home will direct services.

Mr. West was retired from the US Navy after 20 years of service. He was a native and longtime resident of Glencoe, having moved to Crossville in 2011. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed Southern Gospel Music. After his retirement he had worked as a truck driver for a number of years and also drove a Gadsden City Trolley.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Ethel Ruth West; grandparents Frank and Laura Jeffers and Dewey and Jesse West; and stepdaughter Tammy Echols.

He is survived by his wife Ellen West of Crossville; step daughter Christie (Tim) Bankston of Crossville; stepson Robbie (Debbie) Dale of Southside and Adam (Britney) Blanton of Boaz; daughters Roninna Jakway of Florida and Sera Lewis of Florida; 4 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister Lark (Randy) McClendon of Glencoe; nephew John Simpson, Jr. of Gulf Shores, Alan McClendon of Washington, Michael McClendon of Albertville.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Special thanks to his grandson for donating his Navy uniform for Buddy's burial.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the hour of service today.
