Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home
10:00 - 11:00 am (Central time)
Robert T. Means passed away peacefully at his home in Gadsden, Alabama, on April 29, 2026, after a long and wonderful life. Born and raised in Gadsden, “Bob,” as he was known to all who had the privilege of knowing him, was a beloved member of his community, a devoted husband, and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Bob retired as an electrician with Marcum Electric and was a proud member of IBEW Local 136 for more than 60 years. Even in retirement, he continued to share his skills, working for many years with A&S; Electrical Contractors. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1958 to 1962, with tours of duty in Korea and at Fort Devens, Massachusetts.
A longtime and faithful member of Rainbow Presbyterian Church, Bob formed many enduring friendships that lasted throughout his life. He had a love for travel, especially cruising with family and friends, and he was an avid ballroom dancer, often spending evenings dancing late into the night with his beloved wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Mary Means; his sisters, Liz Erwin, Betty Means, Elsie Johnson, Patricia Clayton, and Judy Wagnon; and his brother, Ed Means.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce; his sons, Craig (Amanda) Means and Jud (Kelley) Means; his granddaughters, Shelby (Austin), Lauren, Anna Kate, Haley Beth, and Molly; and his four great-grandchildren, Catherine, Jack Robert, George, and Myla Grace.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Lynn Gladen with Healing Hearts, caregivers Alexia, Brianna, and Edith, and nurse Alex with Enhabit Home Health for their compassionate care.
A graveside service will be held at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery on Monday, May 4th at 10:00 AM. A visitation at Rainbow Presbyterian Church will follow immediately after, Michael Wichlan and wade Hooper will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rainbow Presbyterian Church, Manna of Gadsden, or Way of the Cross.
