Robert Wade Brooks, age 81, of Hueytown, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Trudie Elam Brooks and Marvin William Brooks, and his sister, Mary Ellen McCombs.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy H. Brooks, along with his beloved family and many friends who will deeply miss him. He was thrilled by his weekly visits from Ryan, Rhett, and Ryker Shivers.

Bob proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He completed his education at Samford University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Bob met the love of his life, Nancy H. Brooks, while teaching in Fairfield, and they were married for 50 wonderful years. Their marriage was a testament to love, commitment, and faith.

Bob was a Godly man whose faith was an important part of his life. He faithfully served as a Deacon at Valley Creek Baptist Church, where he also served on various committees, sang in the choir, and supported Nancy in her work with preschool.

His family meant everything to him. Some of Bob’s happiest and most treasured years were spent at Smith Lake with his beloved niece and nephews, making memories that his family will cherish for years to come. He highly respected his niece, Debbie Cox, and his nephew Mike McCombs.

Bob had many interests and hobbies. He had a deep love for music and was a dedicated student of the guitar. He enjoyed mechanical work and could spend many hours researching and learning how things worked. He also had a great passion for family history and spent countless hours researching his family’s genealogy and preserving the stories of those who came before him.

Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted family man, faithful Christian, teacher, principal, servant, and friend. His life touched many people, and his love, kindness, faith, and memories will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
