Ricky Joe Akridge, 64, passed away Saturday September 25th. Ricky was born May 6th, 1957 in Gadsden,
Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Grace Akridge, brothers Roy Lee, Donald,
and Jimmy Akridge.
He is survived by Elizabeth Akridge, (mother of his children), daughters, Elisha Alverson (Shelia), Terri
Bates, Brandy Wright (Brandon Allen), and Sandy Watson (Cedric Watson). Grandchildren Destiny
Franks(Jeremy Franks), Kevin Akridge, G.Q. Hardwick (Britney), Ricky Isaiah Akridge and Jazzlyn Wright.
Great-grandchildren, Bentley Holcomb, Grace Akridge, Hunter Holcomb, Xayden Roy Moten, and Anakin
Akridge. Nieces Priscilla Dehghan(Mo), Donna Cole, Susan Akridge, Kristi Mertel and a host of cousins,
friends, and special friend of 4 years Denise Lee.
He graduated from Glencoe High School in 1976 and was a member of the Red Knights. He was
employed by Whitaker Contracting.
Ricky loved riding his motorcycle, working in his shop(Santa's Workshop) where he showed excellent
craftsmanship with woodwork, and he enjoyed taking his boat to the lake. He loved his family and
friends. He was known for his entertaining family and friends with huge barbecues and gatherings. Ricky
lived life to the fullest and had more friends than could be counted. He was loved by everyone, had an
unforgettable laugh, and was always smiling. When you met him, you would have a friend for life. He
would laughingly assign most people a nickname. However, Ricky's best attribute was his giving heart of
gold. He will truly be missed.
Services will be held Wednesday September 29th, with Crestwood Funeral Home in charge. Visitation
will be from 11 until 1 o clock. Funeral will be in Crestwood Chapel and burial will be in Crestwood
Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Kevin Akridge, G.Q. Hardwick, Ricky Isaiah Akridge, Cedric Watson, Brandon Allen, Jeremy
Franks, and Charles Black.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Red Knights and employees of Whitaker Cont
