Richey W. Coleman, 47, passed away on February 17, 2011 after a 7 ½ year battle with colon cancer. Crestwood Funeral home is in charge of services. Brother Harvey Beck will officiate. Richey is preceded in death by his mother, Jayne Richey Coleman, Grandparents Buckle and Bobbie Richey, Ms. Verna Coleman, father-in-law, Everett Mitchell. Richey is survived by his wife of 26 years, Angie Steger Coleman, son, Justin Coleman (Heather Walker), Father, Bobby Coleman, sisters, Kathy Wilson (Ken), Cindy Anderson (Jim), mother-in-law, Sarah Mitchell, sister-in-laws, Karen Ezell, Debbie Dale (Robbie), nieces; Whitney Wilson (Paul), Ashley Fortenberry (Jason), Jamie Edge (Vann), Carlie Anderson and many other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and his special pets Fred, Sally, and Sunshine. Richey was born in Gadsden, Al and is a 1981 graduate of Litchfield High School and graduated from Alabama Technical College with a welding degree. He is a member of the Hokes Bluff Methodist Church. He was an active member of the Hokes Bluff Athletic Club and loved Hokes Bluff sports. He was the videographer for the football team for the past 15+ years. He loved helping others and volunteering. He was employed by Acco Chain and Lifting for 23 years and was very dedicated to his job. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, coach, and friend. He will be greatly missed. Pallbearers are Jeff Green, Mike Robertson , Keith Smith, Steve Shields, Glenn Tommie and Greg Watkins. Honorary pallbearers are Don McElroy, Jim Sheffield, Charles Quattlebaum, Gary Udaka, Brian Stovall, Tyler Stovall, Howard Gilbert, Chris Payne, Jeff Bagley, David Wright, Mike Estes, Dave McCollum, Jerry McTee, Jim Nelson and the coaching staff of Hokes Bluff. The family would like to thank The Kirklin Clinic oncology department, Dr. Tina Wood, Betty Prescott, Vanderbilt Oncology, Dr. Harrison, Hokes Bluff Drug Shoppe, Alacare(Lacy and Kristi), Lawley Hospice, and neighbor Becky and Jeff Bagley, The employees of Acco Chain and Lifting. Flowers may be sent or donations made to the Dave Beck Fund at Hokes Bluff Methodist Church. Visitation and Funeral Service will be at Hokes Bluff Methodist Church, Family Life Center (Gym) on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. At Richey's request, casual dress, no suit and tie. Graveside service for family will be Monday at Crestwood Cemetery.
