Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Crestwood Chapel for Richard L. Stephens, 73, Glencoe, who died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge. Mr. Stephens was a member of Temple Praise Church. He was one of the owners and operators of Gadsden Race Way. He was an avid race fan and musician. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abel and Mary Stephens; and his brother, James E. Stephens. He is survived by his daughters, Kim (Charles) Xanders and Debbie (Mark) Winn; his brother, Jerry (Dorrene) Stephens; his nephews and beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his longtime special friend, Sue Tolbert. Pallbearers will be family and friends. A special thanks to the doctors and nurses of M.I.C.U. at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday prior to the service at 2 p.m. at Crestwood Funeral Home.
