Funeral will be 3 pm, Sunday, at College Heights Baptist Church for Reverend Franklin Delano Samuels ,age 82, of Glencoe who died Thursday January 31,2019. Reverend John Copeland will officiate . Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Born in Baxter Kentucky, in 1936, the youngest of 10 children, to Ritta and Murphy Samuels. Graduated from Harlan County High in 1954, married Frances Milam in 1958,Graduated from Eastern Kentucky University B.S. in business education 1961. Franklin taught High School business classes until 1964, at which time he went to Southern Seminary in Louisville Kentucky. He graduated from Seminary in 1968 with a masters of Divinity. He pastored at Cove Hill Baptist in Cove Hill Kentucky, First Southern Baptist Church Clarksville Indiana, First Baptist Church Fairdale Kentucky ,College Heights Baptist Church in East Gadsden Alabama, then Southland Baptist Memphis Tennessee, then First Baptist Waynesboro Tennessee, then back to College Heights Baptist Glencoe Alabama.

He is survived by wife Frances Samuels, daughter Susie(David)  Gowens, son Joel (Janice) Samuels ,six grandchildren, Patrick LaFollette, Hannah LaFolette, Rachel(John) Breech, Ben Samuels, Davis Samuels, Carson Samuels one great grandchild Carter LaFolette.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to College Heights Baptist Church.

Honorary Pallbearers are David Gowens and John Breech.

Pallbearers will be Ben Samuels, Davis Samuels, Carson Samuels, Zach Hill, Steven Dial and Larry Peppers.

The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 1 until 3 pm.
