Funeral will be 1 pm Thursday at Crestwood Chapel for Mr. Raymond Earl "Smitty" Smith age 84 of Gadsden who died Monday. Pastors Dan Woodcock, Larry Nunn and friend Elizabeth Nunnally will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Mr, Smth made his living wheeling, dealing and selling used cars. He loved all cars especially antiques.He was a veteran having served in The United States Air Force. Daytona Beach was his favorite vacation spot. He also did some drag racing in his younger days. He loved everybody and never met a stranger. He attended cornerstone church with his good friend and neighbor Elizabeth. They were so important to each other after the passing of his wife Patricia.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Patricia Smith, parents Casto and Beulah Smith.
He is survived by his children Ondrea(Michael) Sellers, Vanessa (Van) Moore, Vann Earl Smith and Valorie(Steve) Beagle.Grandchildren Nathaniel Earl(Crystal) Busbee, Kevin Busbee, Shawn Sellers, and Addison Smith, 5 great grandchildren ,sister Annie Ruth Patrick ,brother Harold (Jackie) Smith, numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful companions Spencer his Maltese and cat Pepper. Great friend Elizabeth Nunnally.
Special thanks for all friends ,family and all who were there for dad when we needed them. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 11 am until the time of service.
