It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Ramona
"Mona" Kay Solley Brooks. Though words can never fully express the loss we
feel, we take comfort in reflecting upon a life that placed her Lord and Savior
first and who loved her family and friends with her whole heart. Born in
Etowah County and formerly a resident of Southside, Mona relocated to
Munford just over a year ago to be closer to family.
Mona was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed spending time with
family and friends, and she was never slow to speak her mind. If you spent
much time around her you quickly realized that she was the center of the
room. Mona did not meet a stranger, and she was always smiling and
upbeat.
Mona was preceded in death by her parents-Robert Loyd Solley and Wilma
Sue Solley; her brother Guy Victor Solley; her husband of sixty years, Rev.
Thomas Larry Brooks; and her son Larry Wayne Brooks. She is survived by
her son Robby Brooks (Missy); Daughter in Love Mishaela Brooks;
Granddaughter Arial Alford (Cody) and Grandson Newt Brooks (Kaylee).
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at
Enhabit Hospice for the love and compassion that was shown to the Brooks
family as well as Ms. Vanessa Groce who was Mrs. Brooks' companion and
friend. We are forever grateful for the love that you have shown our loved
ones.
There will be no visitation or graveside, but a memorial service will be held to
honor Mona's life. Friends and family are welcome to join us at Green Valley
Baptist Church on January 18th from 2-4pm . In lieu of flowers, the family asks
that donations be made to a charity close to their heart, ensuring that
Mona's spirit of giving continues.
