Funeral services will be 1 pm Wednesday at Crestwood Chapel for Mr. Ralph E. Godfrey age 86 of Gadsden who died Sunday. Dr. Craig Carlisle will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home announcing.

Mr. Godfrey was a Navy Veteran and retired from Gulf States Steel with over 30 years of service as an Electrical Engineer. He was a Christian and faithful member of Bellevue United Methodist Church. He loved his church and was there whenever the doors were open. He was a generous man who would do anything for anybody. He was an avid golfer, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all and will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by wife of 57 years Helen Godfrey, son Daniel Godfrey, parents Frank and Edna Godfrey.

He is survived by daughters Tammy(Craig ) Carlisle, Terry(Tim) Mathis, grandchildren Ashley(Michael) Dills, Jordan Carlisle ,Andy(Jessica) Mathis ,great grandchildren Audrey and Mason Dills and Emersyn Mathis, sister Vera (Joe) Stephens.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mental Health Association of Etowah County or Bellevue United Methodist Church.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bellevue Methodist Men and Bill Humphries.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 11 am until the time of service.
