Peggy Edwards Lipscomb, a long-time resident of the Gadsden area, entered Heaven's gates on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at her home.
Born in 1934, she was the eldest daughter of Walter and Josie Arretta Edwards. She was a nurturing and caring sister to 11 brothers and sisters, which carried over into her lifelong career of working with children as a daycare and kindergarten teacher. She made an impact in the lives of so many children who knew and loved her. Peggy had many friends and loved to socialize. She never met a stranger.
Peggy had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of North Gadsden Baptist Church, where in her younger years she was very involved with the church and served as a leader in the youth ministry, and in other capacities there.
Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 22 years, James E. Lipscomb, and ex-husband, Lother Yarbrough. Peggy is survived by her daughters, Angela Yarbrough Markley and Natashia (Jimmy) Reid. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Amanda (Michael) Foss, Mackenzie Nall, Josie Reid and Barrett Reid.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, at Crestwood Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating her life will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at Crestwood Funeral Home, 2209 E. Broad St., Gadsden, AL.
