Obituary

Patricia (Pat) Gale Fielding Martin, age72, gained her angel wings on Saturday May 19th, 2018. A celebration of her life will be held at Crestwood Funeral Home on Wednesday at 1 P.M. The Rev. Jay Stewart will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, H.J. Fielding and Vera Tedder Fielding; brother, Robert Fielding; her in-laws, T.H. Martin and Virginia Espy Martin.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, George Martin; two sons, Timothy Martin and wife Laura and Kevin Martin; two precious grandchildren, Mackenzie Martin and Gage Martin; twin sisters Martha Fielding Lincoln and husband, Ray and Mary Fielding Fleming and husband Sam; brother, Johnny Fielding and wife Linda; and beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pat grew up in the North Gadsden Community and had been a member of the North Gadsden United Methodist Church. Most recently, she was a member of New Faith Community Church. Pat was a 1966 graduate of Gaston School. While her two sons

attended Gaston, she served as a cub- scout leader and a room mother and she became a substitute teacher. Also, Pat worked tirelessly in both PTA and the band boosters.

Pat was a loving Christian wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She was a true southern lady who was a talented artist, decorator, cook and seamstress. Pat was always a gracious hostess who enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Her hobbies included reading, shopping, painting, arts and crafts, genealogy research and visiting with family and friends.

Pat was previously employed as the Extended Day Director at Mitchell and Striplin Elementary Schools. She became a proficient writer of both programs and grants for extended day projects. In 2005, Pat was selected as the Extended Day Director of the Year for the entire state of Alabama. Also, Pat served as a director of Gadsden State Community College's children summer camp program.

Pat was a very talented artist. She taught classes in water color painting and ceramics. Her artwork was displayed at several art shows. Pat had two articles about ceramic water color techniques published in the Ceramic Art magazine.

Pallbearers are Gage Martin, Bradley Saylor, Jeremy Fielding, Kevin Glenn, Pat Sherrill and Jason Stinson.

Special thanks to Dr. Peter Szeto, Dr. Darryl Prime, Dr. Allison Vann, the nursing staff of the 8th floor and MICU of Gadsden Regional Hospital, Comfort Care Hospice, Susan Alford, Beth Bigelow, family and friends for their care and concern during her illness.

Flowers will be accepted at Crestwood funeral Home or donations may be made to Dwight Baptist Church at 520 North 29th Street, Gadsden, AL. 35904.

The family will receive friends 11 to 1 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
