Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Crestwood Chapel for Mrs. Ovell Copeland Castleberry, 85, Gadsden, who died Aug. 18, 2012. The Rev. Bruce Jenkins will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge. Mrs. Castleberry was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Dwight Baptist Church. She worked for the State of Alabama in the Etowah County Circuit Clerk's Office for 29 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Effie Copeland; husband, James O. Castleberry; daughter, Sherrian V. Castleberry. She is survived by two daughters, Angie (Ronald) Higgins and Teresa Killian; grandchildren, James R. Higgins, Jessica R. Pope, Kelly J. Killian; great-grandchildren, Cheyanne Killian, Brayden Pope, all of Gadsden; cousins, nieces, nephews; special family friend, Fred Burandt, Lake Forrest, Calif. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Terry Perry; special neighbor and friend, Lou Upton; former and present employees of the Etowah County Circuit Clerk's Office; present and retired judges of the 16th Judicial Circuit (Etowah County); attorneys and legal staff with whom she worked in the Etowah County Circuit Clerk's office. Special thanks to all of her caregivers for their loving care of our mother. A very special thanks to Dr. Willbon Bates who cared for our mother for many years. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
