Oscar "Jr" Vance, age 80, of Gadsden, passed away on May 14, 2025. Funeral services will be held at Crestwood Funeral Home on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 1 p.m. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Stephen Helms will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Mausoleum.

Oscar will be remembered as a storyteller extraordinaire. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving over 24 years for his country. Some of his jokes were corny, but you always had to laugh at his delivery. He loved fishing, gardening, and especially spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was loved by all and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Shane Vance; his parents, W.O. and Pearl Vance; and his siblings, Ausbon "Billy", Vance, Geraldine Johnson, and Betty Faye Stofko.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Myra Vance; children Steve (Brandi) Vance, Scott (Crystal) Vance, Christa (Joey) Nelson, Seth (Hannah) Horton, Alesa Biddle, and Devin Dodd; brother Robert Steve Vance; and a large extended family.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
